Registry Office Westerland in the heart of the city
At the Westerland Town Hall, you’ll find a small, tastefully decorated registry office where the bridal couple and up to 13 other people can be accommodated. Afterwards, the forecourt is perfect for a champagne reception—or you can gather your loved ones and toast together at the beautiful sandy beach, which is just a 5-8 minute walk away.
Getting married over the rooftops of Sylt
You want something truly special and unique for your ceremony?
Let’s head to the lighthouse in Hörnum! With a breathtaking view over the island, you can not only get a little closer to the sky at a height of 50 meters but also seal the bond for life in a truly Nordic way. This is possible in a small circle with a total of 9 people (children under 8 years and dogs are not allowed for safety reasons).
The sound of the sea and a hint of salty air for your wedding?
The salty smell of the sea, the circling seagulls, and perhaps a summer breeze? They’re simply part of Sylt! At many beach sections of the island, you can have a personalized outdoor wedding ceremony or a church service. Accompanied by live music or a bonfire, there are no limits to your wishes.
Getting married traditionally at the local history museum.
In the beautiful and uniquely charming village of Keitum, you’ll find the local history museum. Two rooms with historical flair, the “Seafaring Room” and the “Kairem Rüm,” can accommodate up to 27 people in total.
Saying 'I do' at Sea
Even if having a beach wedding still feels too far from the sea for you, why not get married right on the water? Consider tying the knot aboard the sailing cutter ‘Gret Palucca’! With a floating registry office below deck, there’s room for 25 seated guests and 50 standing.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds receive a certificate signed personally by the captain, which is then sent off as a message in a bottle by both spouses. Following that, you can continue the celebration with a glass (or two, or three) of champagne and some delicious finger food.
